Maroons visit Legionnaires in Sarnia

The Chatham Maroons will open their Western Conference play with a road game in Sarnia Thursday night.

The Maroons are still looking for their first win of the season after settling for a tie against Niagara Falls and a double-overtime loss versus Listowel at the GOJHL Showcase in Pelham over the weekend.

Chatham is opening the season with a fresh look and a lot of young talent after losing nine of the 20-year-old veterans who headed up last year's team.

The team held its own over the first weekend, going the distance against two teams that both made it to the Sutherland Cup semifinals, despite getting outshot by a combined 24 shots during those two games. Maroons forward Maddux Rychel is leading the team in scoring so far with three goals and three assists -- captain Griffin Robinson is just behind him with five points (one goal, four assists).

The Legionnaires opened the season with a win and an overtime loss at the GOJHL Showcase, beating Buffalo before losing to Caledonia.

You can hear tonight's game on CFCO Country 92.9FM/AM 630 -- puck drop is set for 7:10 p.m.
