Goure named top minor midget player

Grande Pointe's Deni Goure has been named the Alliance Hockey minor midget player of the year.

The 15-year-old Chatham-Kent ‘AAA’ Cyclones forward received the award at the OHL Cup banquet in Toronto Thursday.

"My teammates have helped me a lot... it was a pretty up-and-down year," said Goure. "We've had a lot of injuries, but we battled through and I think we had a pretty good year."

Goure finished third in Alliance scoring for the 2018-2019 season with 53 points (22 goals, 31 assists) in 32 games.

He also appeared in five Jr. B regular season games with the Chatham Maroons, totalling two goals and one assist in those games. Goure played four playoff games with the team, too, notching one assist.

He is widely considered to be a top prospect for the upcoming Ontario Hockey League draft in April.
