Maroons Snuff Rockets 3-1

Noah Bushnell scored twice as the Chatham Maroons beat the Strathroy Rockets 3-1 Sunday night at Memorial Arena.

The Maroons are in sixth place in the GOJHL Western Conference with 25 points. The Rockets are tied for seventh place with 17 points.

Both teams exchanged a goal in the first period. Bushnell put the Maroons on the board first at 4:43. Emmet Pierce scored later in the period for the Rockets to tie things up at one each.

There was no scoring in the second period, but the Maroons killed off one penalty when Jake O'Donnell went to the box for slashing.

Bushnell scored what would be the game-winner at 5:04 in the third period. Steven Fowler picked up some insurance for the Maroons later in the frame.

Ryan Wagner stopped all but one of the 38 shots he faced in goal for Chatham. Joshua Diamond had 45 saves for Strathroy.

The Rockets travel to Leamington Thursday night.  The Maroons visit the LaSalle Vipers Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm and all the action can be heard on CFCO Country 92.9FM/AM 630.
