Gursoy Scores Four as Maroons Win 6-5 in OT

Kevin Gursoy scored a hat trick, plus the game winner as the Chatham Maroons beat the Lambton Shores Predators in overtime 6-5 at the Shores Recreation Centre.

Gursoy had a goal in every period in regulation in Saturday's contest as well as the overtime lamplighter.  He said it was one of those instances where everything just felt right.

"After the first one I just started feeling good I guess.  Warm-ups were pretty good today, so it just felt good today.  Everything was going together," said Gursoy, who had just two goals on the season going into the contest.

The Maroons found themselves fighting back a couple of times in the game, trailing first by a goal early in the first period, and then with two-goal deficits at both the end of the first period and the beginning of the second.  Chatham scored two unanswered goals in the third period, one by Gursoy and the other by Braden Henderson.

Alec Mackenzie accounted for the sixth Chatham goal.  He also had two assists on the night.  Josh Barraclough also had two assists for the Maroons.

Kyle Fisher had a goal and two assists for the Predators, who had five different goal scorers.

The Maroons return home Sunday night to host the St. Thomas Stars on a five-game winning streak.  Gursoy said that he and his teammates have to stick to business.

"We don't want to end it," said Gursoy.  "We just got to think about every game one at a time and just keep on winning."

The puck drops between the Maroons and Stars at 7pm Sunday at Chatham Memorial Arena.
