Sting Take Game Three

The Sarnia Sting picked up a big road victory Tuesday night, beating the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 5-2 to win their first game of the series.

They needed the big response game after dropping both contests at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre over the weekend.

Sarnia opened the scoring 13:41 into the first period when Matt Mistele scored, picking up the first of three Sting power play goals on the night. Brandon Lindberg scored a shorthanded marker later in the frame to open a 2-0 lead.

The two teams traded second period goals as Sarnia maintained their two goal lead through 40 minutes.

Mistele and Pavel Zacha scored powerplay goals in the third as the Sting opened a 5-1 lead. The Greyhounds would push back, scoring just seconds after Mistele's tally.

After being pulled midway through game two Charlie Graham was back in the Sarnia net net for game three. He stopped 23 of 25 shots and made critical saves during a lengthy Greyhounds powerplay in the game's final minutes, as the home team looked the stage a late third period comeback.

Travis Konecny missed the game with an injury. Franco Sproviero was called up to play forward, getting his first taste of OHL playoff action.

With the 5-2 win, Sarnia now trails the best of seven series 2-1 with game four scheduled for Thursday night in Sault Ste. Marie. Game five will be back at the SSEC Saturday night.
