Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson is contemplating retirement.
Both Johnson and the Detroit Lions organization issued statements on Wednesday afternoon.
The 30-year-old Johnson, nicknamed Megatron, has played nine NFL seasons, all of them with Detroit since being drafted second overall out of Georgia Tech.
Johnson holds a multitude of Lions franchise records and a handful of league records for catches and receiving yards, but has fought through knee and ankle issues the past few seasons.
