Flyers Win Crucial Game 4

The LaSalle Vipers are in a deep hole in the GOJHL Western Conference Finals after falling to the Leamington Flyers 3-1.

The Vipers are down 3-1 in the series following the Game 4 loss at the Vollmer Centre. While captain Brett Langlois says the result is disappointing, he is proud of his team's effort.

"I think it just comes down to luck. I mean we played a full 60 minutes tonight, but we couldn't find the back of the net and ultimately that's what happens when you don't put pucks in the net," says Langlois. "Kind of down after this game, but you can't remain like that. You have to refocus and come back for the next game and hopefully get it done."

Flyers Head Coach Tony Piroski points to steady goaltending and a bit of luck in pulling out the win.

"I didn't think we were any good at all in the first period to be honest with you," says Piroski. "I thought they played well all night, but we got a couple bounces early. We got a lead. It's a lot easier to play with the lead."

Mitch Amante scored twice for the Flyers with Alex Friesen and Chris Scott picking up the assists on the goals. Matthew Opblinger scored what proved to be the game winner from JP Grineau and Colin Moore. Nathan Savage had the goal for LaSalle with Brendan Harrogate and Daniel Beaudoin getting the helpers.

Game 5 goes Thursday night in Leamington. Puck-drop is set for 7:10pm.
