Scherzer Rejects Deal

Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer has rejected a contract extension offer that would see him become one of the highest paid pitchers in baseball.
Scherzer is the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner and will instead become a free agent after this season.
Contract talks aren’t expected to continue through the season. Details of the failed negotiations haven’t been released.
Scherzer will get paid $15.5-million this season. Detroit signed Justin Verlander to a $180-million, seven-year deal last year.
