New subdivision in Dresden taking shape

A new subdivision with some unique features is starting to come together in the community of Dresden.

On Friday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries was held to celebrate the opening of the Rolling Acres subdivision.

"We live here, we're from here and have raised our family here," said DeMall Group President Dave Depencier. "We're committed to the town and will build here for many years."

According to Depencier, every home is designed and selected for each specific lot. He said each home has a different look, that helps create an overall unique look for the subdivision.

Prices start around $495,000 with a mix of 2-3 bedroom semis available along with some single-family dwellings.

"We want to have pickleball courts, pavilions, walking trails, games for kids, a lot of different things," said Depencier. "We want to have two outdoor squash courts. That's a huge thing we're putting together. There are only two outdoor squash courts in North America and hopefully, the third one will be in Chatham-Kent, specifically in the town of Dresden."

According to Depencier, the squash courts will be open-air. He said they will be pre-formed concrete and will have a unique look to them, adding that they will be a great spot for murals to tie in the history of the town.

"It will be a great outdoor space for all kinds of activities, events, and tournaments," said Depencier. "We're creating something different that's not what you would typically see in your average subdivision."

Depencier said the land for the new subdivision was carefully selected by the DeMall Group with 20 more acres recently purchased for the next phase of the development, with an overall 10-year plan projected.

The construction of 10 homes is already complete and more are on the way in the next couple of years.
