Police arrest wanted man previously charged with child luring

A 46-year-old Wallaceburg man accused of child luring is in more trouble with the law after he allegedly skipped a court date and breached his release conditions.

Police said they arrested the man on Albert Street in Wallaceburg at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers said he was initially charged with child luring and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

Police said their investigation also showed that the man had allegedly breached two of his release conditions.

One of those conditions required him to stay away from anyone under 18 unless an adult was present and knew of the child luring charge. The other condition banned him from controling any computer or device capable of accessing the internet.

Police said the man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with those conditions and was taken into police custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman accused of driving vehicle away after hitching a ride

A 26-year-old Zone Township woman is facing a handful of charges after she allegedly drove off with a vehicle after catching a ride with someone in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they got involved after they were called in just before 5 p.m. Monday for a vehicle theft.

Police said they were told the victim had given the woman a ride and briefly left her alone in the vehicle when the woman then jumped in the driver's seat and drove off.

Officers said the woman who took the vehicle was not only suspended from driving, but was also allegedly found shortly afterwards with a male passenger who she had been banned from associating with.

Police said the woman was arrested and the vehicle was returned.

A 26-year-old Zone Township woman was charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions and was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

A 19-year-old Chatham man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft and possession of stolen property.

Both of the accused were taken back to police headquarters and later released with future court dates.

Woman charged with uttering threats during argument

A 37-year-old Chatham woman is facing a pair of charges after she allegedly threatened someone during an argument in Chatham Monday night.

Police said they arrested her after they were called to Orchard Heights for an assault investigation shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers said their investigation showed that the woman and the victim were arguing when the woman allegedly commented about harming the victim.

She was arrested, charged with two counts of uttering threats, and later released with conditions and a future court date.
