Ticket sales top $12K for FreeHelp CK's 50/50 draw

One lucky winner is walking away with a little over $6,000 as part of a fundraising 50/50 draw to support a Chatham-Kent based charity.

FreeHelp CK volunteers sold the tickets at the very popular Rims and Ribs event over the weekend, taking in a total of $12,432.

The winning ticket was drawn Sunday evening and belonged to Joe Rush, who ended up winning $6,466. The other half of the ticket sales will go to support FreeHelp CK.

"We are grateful to RetroFest for allowing us to be a part of the event and being such fantastic hosts," said a post on FreeHelp CK's Facebook page. "We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Connie [Beneteau] and the entire Retrofest team for their unwavering support, contribution, and love towards our cause. It's people like you that make a significant difference in our society."

The post also recognized Ribfest organizer Chris Glassford for his hard work and dedication toward making the event successful.

"We are immensely grateful for everyone's support and contributions, and we look forward to your continued support in the future," said the post.

FreeHelp CK provides meals twice a week to seniors or those who are disabled or homeless in the community. The group also helps local high-school students choose prom dresses and suits that are all paid for by donations and helps to stock community pantries that provide food for anyone who needs it.
