Music for the Mind puts on outdoor concert for good cause

A Chatham-Kent fundraiser that promotes and supports good mental health is kicking off the summer with a family friendly outdoor concert in Chatham.

Music for the Mind will be swinging into summer with six local bands, food, outdoor games, and a face painter at Sons of Kent Brewing Co. in downtown Chatham on June 24, 2023.

Dirt Country, Southwind Buoys, Cellar Door, 40 Hours Over, Paper Jam, and The Dave Trinca Xperience will grace the stage beginning at 3 p.m.

Organizer Elisha Banks told CK News Today that all proceeds from the event will be donated to Family Service Kent and the KIDS Team Program to support mental health initiatives, a cause near and dear to her heart.

"We need to bring awareness to mental health not just in the community, but overall. We need to highlight that and the need for supports to be available to people, especially when there are financial barriers to access," said Banks.

Banks said the bands are amazing and generous.

"They're always willing to step up whenever I ask because the bands are donating their time for this. It's something that really means a lot to me because the event wouldn't be possible without the bands in this community stepping up and supporting the cause and giving their time and their talent," Banks added.

Tickets are now $10 and kids 12 and under get in for free. Tickets can be bought by clicking here or by calling Elisha Banks at 519-437-5254.

The show starts at 2 p.m. on June 24, 2023 rain or shine and ends at 11 p.m.
