ComeTogetherCK in search of new building

A local not-for-profit organization is in the market for a new location as organizers look to continue their programs and initiatives in the community.

ComeTogetherCK has been temporarily using space at the Downtown Chatham Centre, which the building's owners donated. The group has used the space at the DCC as a distribution site for The Gift during the holidays and currently operates its Community Shop out of the building.

Since The Community Shop was started, initiatives have included significant downtown cleanup days,  creating signs for different events, suicide awareness walks, making and creating Takwihleew Orange Shirt Pins, and more.

The group is made up of over 20 volunteers, who help make the space a community workshop and pantry for those in need.

“We are extremely grateful to the owners of the Downtown Chatham Centre," said CTCK Executive Director Brent Wilken. "The owners gave us space for the Gift 2021 as a distribution site and from there, the Community Shop was born. Had they not supported our vision and the work we do, The Community Shop may not exist today."

According to Wilken, the group is looking for a larger location to help accommodate more volunteers and allow their existing programs to expand.

The organization said it would need around 20,000 square feet to accommodate administrative offices, program spaces, and storage facilities.

"As we look for a new location, we are excited for what the future holds for CTCK and The Community Shop and continue to make a difference in Chatham-Kent," said Wilken.
