Police looking for tips in two cases

Chatham-Kent police have released some surveillance photos as they appeal to the public for tips in a pair of ongoing investigations.

In the first case, police said someone entered "numerous" vehicles in Wheatley.

A suspect is pictured below.

Anyone who has any information that may help with the investigation or can identify the person in the photo is asked to contact Constable Ken Muir at kenmu@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600.

In the second case, police are looking for the public's help to identify the person in the pictures below in connection with the theft of a wallet on St. Clair Street in Chatham on May 9, 2023.

Man arrested for breaking into vehicles

A 31-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a pair of charges after he was allegedly caught entering some vehicles in the back parking lot of a Chatham business.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene on Grand Avenue West just before 8 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the man was held by some staff members and then turned over to officers once they arrived.

The man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Teen girl accused of damaging vehicles

A Chatham youth is facing a pair of mischief charges after she allegedly damaged some vehicles in a parking lot in Chatham Thursday morning.

Police said she was charged after they got a tip about a youth who was seen ripping the rear wiper off of a vehicle and throwing rocks some vehicles just before 11 a.m. Thursday.

A 17-year-old Chatham girl was charged with two counts of mischief and taken to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham Township man facing assault charges after argument

A 33-year-old Chatham Township man is charged with two counts of assault after an argument in Wallaceburg turned violent.

Police said they arrested the man after officers were called to an address on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg at around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators said they learned a man and a woman had been arguing at a home on Wallace Street when the argument escalated to the point where the man allegedly pushed the woman and hit her as she was trying to leave the residence.

The woman reportedly sustained "visible injuries" and police later found the man accused of hitting her.

He was charged with two counts of assault and was taken back to police headquarters, then later released with conditions and a future court date.

Blenheim man charged after pair of alleged assaults

A 57-year-old man will have to face the music after a noise complaint turned violent at an apartment building in Blenheim.

CK police said they were called to the building on Chatham Street North shortly before 1 a.m. Friday and learned that the man had allegedly started banging on the doors of some apartments when he was approached by a female tenant who tried to speak with him.

At that time, the man allegedly became upset with the woman and started pushing her down the hallway, away from her apartment.

The man then allegedly returned to his apartment after he was approached by a second tenant and started arguing with his mother.

Police said that argument escalated to the point where the man allegedly grabbed his mom and pushed her as well.

A 57-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.
