Police report finding wanted man, shotgun shells during traffic stop

A 44-year-old Chatham man who was already wanted by police is in more trouble with the law after he was pulled over late Wednesday night.

Chatham-Kent police said they stopped a vehicle shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Park Avenue East in Chatham and learned that the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Canadian Pacific Railway Police.

Police said the man was arrested on the warrant and that when they searched him, they allegedly found some shotgun shells in his possession even though he had been banned from possessing ammunition.

The accused was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a prohibition order, then later released with a future court date.
