Drug-impaired driver stopped at a green light
A 38-year-old Chatham man is facing an impaired driving charge after someone allegedly saw him stopped at a green light in Chatham.
Police said they arrested the man after officers followed up on a tip about a vehicle at King Street and Third Street in Chatham that was not proceeding through a green light Monday morning.
When police found the vehicle, they believed the man was driving under the influence, so he was arrested and taken to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation and believed the man was impaired by a drug.
Police searched the man and claim they found some suspected fentanyl in his possession.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and it's set to be locked up for 45 days.
The driver was charged with impaired driving, driving while under suspension, driving a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device, and drug possession.
He was later released with a future court date.

Apparent road rage leads to alleged assault
A 38-year-old Chatham man is facing an assault charge after a traffic complaint turned violent in Chatham.
Police said they were called to the area of McNaughton Avenue and Victoria Avenue Monday morning and learned that a driver there had allegedly assaulted another driver during a "disturbance."
The accused was arrested, charged, and later released with a future court date.

CK police crack down on bad driving habits during Canada Road Safety Week
Chatham-Kent police are promising to be out in "full force" this week as part of Canada Road Safety Week.
Today is the first day of the seven day national campaign, which is "aimed at making Canada's roads the safest in the world," according to a release from CK police.
Police said their focus continues to be on eliminating impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and driving without a seatbelt.
The theme of this year's campaign is "Take the Wheel," with an emphasis on drivers taking control of their behaviours.
Members of the local traffic unit also stopped and charged three drivers with speeding during an enforcement campaign on Longwoods Road in Louisville on Monday.
Police stopped another two drivers and charged them with speeding as well while officers were out on Kent Bridge Road in McKays Corners on Monday.
