Windsor police arrest, hand over man wanted for domestic assault

A 37-year-old Windsor man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriends home in Wallaceburg and hit her several times.

Chatham-Kent police said they started their investigation at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, adding that the alleged incident had taken place earlier that same morning at a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

Police said their investigation showed that the man allegedly went into his ex's home without her permission to confront her and that the argument escalated to the point where he hit her several times.

Officers said the man, who was wanted for failing to attend court, was also bound by conditions that required him to stay at least 100 metres away from the woman at all times and to stop communicating with her.

The man was arrested by Windsor police shortly before 10 a.m. Monday and was taken back to Chatham-Kent.

He was charged with failing to attend court, failing to comply with a release order, and breaking and entering committing assault and he was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
