Chatham man arrested for failing to attend court

A 33-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for skipping his court date has a new date with a judge now.

Chatham-Kent police said an officer who was on patrol spotted the man just after 8 p.m. Sunday and recognized him from "previous encounters."

The officer was able to confirm that the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant, so he was arrested, charged, and taken back to police headquarters.

The accused was later released with a future court date.

Teen wanted for dangerous driving arrested in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 17-year-old Chatham youth who was wanted in connection with a crash back on March 25.

Police said the youth was arrested on Fifth Street just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday and charged with dangerous driving, taking a motor vehicle without consent, and driving without a license.

The teen was taken back to police headquarters before being released with a future court date.

Chatham-Kent man arrested after family dispute

A 39-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been arrested for allegedly breaching his probation orders by showing up at a family member's residence.

Police said they were called to the residence on Baird Avenue in Chatham just before 12:30 a.m. Monday for a family dispute and found the man there even though he had been ordered not to communicate with the specific family member and to stay at least 100 metres away from them.

The accused was taken back to police headquarters and he was later released with a future court date.
