Suspicious person complaint leads to outstanding warrant arrest

A 28-year-old man has been arrested for an outstanding warrant after police were called to a business on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg on Friday.

Police said the man was known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for possession under $5,000.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters before being released with a future court date.

Man arrested in domestic violence investigation

A 27-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a woman Friday night in Chatham.

Police responded to the disturbance in the area of Murray Street and Princess Street in Chatham and learned that the man and female had been fighting.

Officers said the man was in possession of a large knife at the time.

The 27-year-old was arrested for assault causing bodily harm, assault, weapons dangerous, and resisting arrest.

The man was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Police arrest two for public intoxication 

Two people spent some time sobering up in police custody after being caught highly intoxicated while out in public Friday night.

Police were called to a disturbance Friday night at a residence on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers arrived and located a 19-year-old woman who was intoxicated and unable to take of herself.

She was arrested and taken to police headquarters where she was held until sober.

On Saturday morning, police responded to a noise complaint at a resident on Pine Street in Chatham and found a 66-year-old man intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and taken to police headquarters where he was held until sober.

Man charged with assault, uttering threats

A 59-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after Chatham-Kent police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on John Street in Chatham.

Police said it was learned the man had allegedly assaulted a female.

He was arrested for assault and uttering threats and later released with a future court date.

Man arrested after allegedly head-butting his girlfriend 

A 50-year-old Chatham man is facing charges for allegedly head-butting his girlfriend several times and throwing a chair at her.

Officers said the woman came to police headquarters on Thursday to report being the victim of a historical domestic-related assault.

Through investigation, grounds were formed to arrest the victim’s boyfriend for assault and assault with a weapon, police said.

Police said it was determined during a previous heated argument, the accused had allegedly head-butted his girlfriend repeatedly and threw a small wooden chair at her causing it to break.

Police said the accused came to police headquarters later on Thursday and turned himself in after being contacted by police.

He was later released with conditions and a court date.
