Wanted man caught on camera, then caught by police
A 31-year-old Chatham man who was already wanted by police is in more trouble with the law after he was arrested as part of a theft investigation in Chatham.
Police said their investigation started when they were notified of a theft at an establishment on Grand Avenue West in Chatham just before 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Officers said they were able to identify a suspect after reviewing some surveillance video.
Police also connected the same man to a report of an unwanted person at a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officers found the man a short distance away from that business and arrested him. Police said he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and was taken to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.

Police hand out 16 tickets during traffic blitz
Delinquent drivers kept Chatham-Kent police busy on the road Thursday.
CK police said they handed out 16 Provincial Offence Notices for speeding and other driving-related violations while members of the traffic unit were carrying out a traffic blitz across the municipality -- specifically in the Blenheim, Wabash, and Longwoods Road areas.
Police are also reminding all drivers to slow down and obey the speed limit, adding that speed is almost always a significant factor in collisions that result in severe or fatal injuries.

Sarnia resident arrested after stolen vehicle shows up in Chatham-Kent
A 40-year-old Sarnia resident has been arrested and charged after OPP found a stolen vehicle on the shoulder of the westbound Highway 401 at Kent Bridge Road in Chatham-Kent Wednesday morning.
OPP said they found the vehicle just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and learned that it had been reported stolen from Sarnia.
While police were still at the scene, someone came out of a nearby bush lot and took off running across the highway after seeing police.
Officers were able to arrest the individual after a short foot chase and charged the accused with possession of stolen property.
