Chatham-based family HVAC business expanding to Wallaceburg

A family-owned heating and cooling business based out of Chatham has expanded into Wallaceburg with the acquisition of Arctic Heating and Cooling.

The owner of Arctic Heating and Cooling, Barry Chihrin, is retiring and wanted to make sure his employees and clients would be well taken care of as he steps away, so he sold the business to Postma Heating and Cooling,

Caleb Postma, president of Postma Heating and Cooling, says he and his father had an existing relationship with Chihrin, adding that previous Artic customers will receive a notice in the mail from Postma Heating and Cooling explaining how services will be transitioned.

Postma Heating and Cooling has been looking to expand their business into Wallaceburg for some time, according to Postma. They hope to have eight to 10 employees working out of the new location in the near future. Postma says anybody in the area with experience in the HVAC, plumbing, or electrical industry can contact the business for opportunities.

Starting on Monday, Postma's team members will begin cleaning out the new building and start the process of opening a new showroom. Postma says his company will take some time to figure out what exactly the people of Wallaceburg are looking for, and customize a showroom that suits their needs.

“We’re really excited, we think that there’s lots of opportunity to help the people of Wallaceburg," Postma told Chatham-Kent News Today. "It’s a nice, fresh challenge, and we’re looking forward to it.”
