Wallaceburg theft suspect caught on camera
A 33-year-old man is facing a pair of charges after he allegedly broke into two vehicles that were parked in the driveway of a Wallaceburg home.
Chatham-Kent police said they were notified of the theft on Sylvan Court just after 8 a.m. Wednesday and were able to identify a suspect by reviewing some surveillance footage.
Police said they arrested a 33-year-old Wallaceburg man in connection with the case just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday while he was walking on Fraser Street in Wallaceburg.
He was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and was later released with a future court date.

Homeowner stops theft suspect before police arrive
A homeowner who called police to report a theft on Wednesday managed to stop the person who stole from them.
CK police said they were notified of the theft just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday after someone stole a bicycle and some tools from a residence on Wellington Street West in Chatham.
While officers were on their way to the home, police were notified that the homeowner had stopped the suspect a short distance away.
Police arrested the suspect when they arrived and charged a 43-year-old Ridgetown woman with theft and possession of stolen property.
She was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wallaceburg man booked for public intoxication
A 64-year-old Wallaceburg man spent the night at Chatham-Kent police headquarters after he was allegedly intoxicated to the point where he couldn't care for himself.
Police said they found him just before midnight on Oak Street while they were responding to a call about some suspicious activity.
The accused was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was held until he sobered up.

OPP allegedly find impaired, unlicensed driver at RIDE checkpoint in Chatham-Kent
An unlicensed driver from Tilbury is facing charges after provincial police stopped a passenger vehicle after they were caught by a RIDE stop in Chatham-Kent.
OPP said they arrested the 39-year-old Tilbury resident after checking on the driver of a vehicle that pulled up to the RIDE checkpoint on the eastbound Hwy. 401 off-ramp at Bloomfield Road at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
The driver allegedly failed a roadside screening test and was taken away for further testing.
The accused was later charged with impaired driving, driving with an open liquor container in the vehicle, and driving without a valid license.
As a result, the vehicle was taken away for a week and the accused now has a future court date to answer to the charges.
