Nominations open for CK Senior of the Year

If you know a senior in Chatham-Kent who is positively impacting the community, you now have the chance to give them some recognition.

Nominations are now open for the 36th annual Senior Achievement Awards.

The awards go to residents aged 60 and older that have achieved significant goals and made outstanding contributions as volunteers within Chatham-Kent.

Mayor Darrin Canniff said more than 1,000 seniors have been honoured over three decades.

“We are requesting the public’s assistance,” said Canniff. “Everyone knows someone who has lent a helping hand, whether it be as part of a group or as an individual. Here is your chance to let us know about that person so we can recognize their contributions.”

Nomination forms will be available at all Chatham-Kent Municipal Centres, all Chatham-Kent public libraries, and all 11 Seniors’ Centres within the municipality. You can also request a PDF version by emailing ckmayor@chatham-kent.ca and nominations can also be submitted on Let’s Talk CK.

The deadline for receipt of nomination forms is Wednesday, April 5. According to the municipality, the Chatham-Kent Senior of the Year is selected by an impartial committee.

The 2023 Senior of the Year will be announced during the Chatham-Kent Celebration of Older Adults broadcast on June 1 on Facebook and YourTV. All of the nominees will be recognized during the virtual event.
