Arrests made in fraud investigation 

A trio of individuals from Toronto are facing charges after a fraud investigation in Chatham.

Just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of identity theft in Chatham.

According to police, the victim had recently learned that someone had allegedly made several online purchases using her credit cards and had attempted to use her identity to purchase new vehicles from Chatham-Kent, Sarnia and Listowel dealerships.

Police also learned the suspect, a woman accompanied by two men, was currently negotiating with a Chatham dealership to buy a new vehicle and was scheduled to return to complete the transaction.

Around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, the woman returned to the dealership and was met by the police. The two men were located in a vehicle a short distance away.

All three people were arrested through collaborative efforts of the Community Patrol Branch, the Criminal Investigation Branch and the Intelligence Unit.

A 39-year-old woman, a 54-year-old man and a 28-year-old man from the Toronto area were arrested and charged with identity theft and personation with intent to commit fraud. The 28-year-old man was additionally charged with six counts of failing to comply with a release order.

All three were transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested on outstanding warrants 

A Chatham woman will have to answer to charges after turning herself into police.

Police said the woman was wanted on three outstanding warrants for failing to comply with a release order and failing to attend court.

On Tuesday morning, she attended Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and turned herself in

The 60-year-old was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested for bail violations 

A Chatham woman has a future court date after getting arrested by court officers.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the woman attended the Ontario Court of Justice and was arrested by court officers. According to police, she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for bail violations.

The 59-year-old was released with a future court date.
