"Rust Valley Restorers" stars coming to RetroFest 2023

The new Rims and Ribs Festival has announced its celebrity guests for the upcoming event.

Organizers said Avery Shoaf of Wild Man Restoration and his colleague Cassidy McEown of Rust Bros. Restorations will be in Chatham this summer during the May 26-28 party. They both appear on the show Rust Valley Restorers on the History Channel and Netflix.

Shoaf and McEown will appear at the Parking Lot Party on Friday night, judge the Celebrity Rib Contest on Saturday, and attend the VIP party at Sons of Kent on Sunday night.

The stars will also visit some historic sites connected to the area's automotive industry during their visit.

"We couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming Avery and Cassidy to the area for the weekend, and I think the feeling is mutual," said Co-organizer of Rims and Ribs 2023 Chris Glassford. "Multiple discussions with Avery assure me that he is excited to come down and see all the classic cars, and meet with the amazing people we have in CK. When asked if he was interested in rib judging, Avery immediately chimed in “Heck yeah! I am a rib connoisseur and will send those bad boys back if they aren’t perfect!"

Shoaf is a mechanic, restoration specialist, and reality star. He turns old cars once deemed piles of rust to collectible automobiles.

McEown also restores cars on the show based in B.C.
