Wanted man arrested in Chatham

The law has come calling for a 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted for failing to comply with his probation order.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man after seeing him out on Grand Avenue East in Chatham just after 10 a.m. Sunday.

He was charged and later released with a future court date.

Florence man arrested after stolen property found for sale in Chatham

A 22-year-old Florence man is facing a theft-related charge after someone who had some property stolen from them found it up for sale in Chatham.

Police said they got a call from the rightful owner on February 21 who told them that they had found some of their stolen property at a resale store on King Street West in Chatham.

Through their investigation, officers were able to identify the man who brought the stolen property to the business in January.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and police tracked him down shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday.

The accused was arrested, charged with possession of stolen property, and later released with a future court date.

Police take down man after short foot chase

A 26-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly breached bail conditions multiple times by visiting someone he was supposed to stay away from.

Police said they were called to investigate the alleged violations just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday and learned that the man had allegedly violated his restraining order multiple times.

Officers arrested him after a short foot chase and charged him with one count of criminal harassment and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Woman accused of stealing electronics, food from Wallaceburg Walmart

A 36-year-old Chatham woman is facing a pair of charges after she allegedly tried to get away from Walmart in Wallaceburg without paying for some of the items she picked up.

Police said they were called to the store just after 6 p.m. Sunday for a report of a woman who had hidden some electronics and food on her person before she left the store.

According to the report, the woman didn't try to pay for the items on her way out, either.

Officers arrested her in the parking lot while she was trying to leave.

The accused was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and she was taken to police headquarters, then released with conditions and a future court date.

Ridgetown woman arrested for impaired driving

A tip about a possible impaired driver in Chatham led to the arrest of a Ridgetown woman Sunday night.

CK police said they pulled the vehicle over on St. Clair Street at around 8:15 p.m. Sunday and believed the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, so she was arrested and taken back to police headquarters for breath tests.

She was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit and was released with conditions and a future court date.
