What’s open and closed for Family Day in CK

Municipal offices in Chatham-Kent will be closed on February 20 as many people spend the day with loved ones.

Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will be closed for Family Day on Monday. The emergency call number is 519-352-6300.

Garbage and recycling pick-up will be delayed by one day throughout the week. The Harwich and Wallaceburg Transfer Stations will be closed on Family Day, as will all Leafs and Yard Depots in Chatham-Kent. All other transfer stations will be open during regular hours.

All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library that are usually open on Mondays will remain so on Family Day.

The Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and the Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool are open for free swims from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

Ridgetown and Wallaceburg Arenas will be closed while all other arenas will be open. The February Free Skate schedule can be found by clicking here.

The Chatham-Kent Museum is open on Family Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All other municipal Arts and Culture venues are closed on Monday.

Meanwhile, residents will want to ensure they have a way of getting around as CK Transit will not be operating on Monday.

Employment and Social Services will be closed on Monday. The Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628 for homeless emergencies within Chatham-Kent is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Public Health King Street in Chatham will also be closed however, essential after-hours public health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.

Both the Chatham and Dresden Service Ontario locations will be closed on Family Day as well.

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, some outpatient diagnostic tests will take place on Monday. Patients with scheduled diagnostic tests are advised to attend their appointments. These departments will also be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.

However, ambulatory care services, outpatient rehabilitation services, pre-surgical screening services, the diabetes education centre, the TIA and CAD clinics, pulmonary function lab, outpatient lab services, health records and patient appointment offices will be closed as well as Elston Pharmacy at the Chatham site and the business and cashier’s office.

The Chatham-Kent mental health and addictions program out-patient department will also be closed on February 20, as will the Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine Clinic. A crisis line is set up for urgent matters 1-866-299-7447.

As per usual, emergency services and emergency rooms at areas hospitals will remain open 24 hours daily.
