Police arrest man, looking for woman after disturbance

Two Chatham residents who weren't supposed to speak to each other are in more trouble with the law after a disturbance in Chatham late Sunday night.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to an address on Colborne Street in Chatham shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday and found a man there who had been involved in the incident.

Officers said he was bound by several release orders not to communicate with a woman who had also been involved in the "disturbance," so he was arrested and charged with three counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was taken back to police headquarters and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police are also still looking for the 42-year-old woman who was involved, noting that she had also been previously released with conditions not to communicate with the man.

Two arrests after domestic dispute leads police to impaired driver

A 43-year-old Chatham woman and a 52-year-old Chatham man are both facing charges after police were called to a domestic dispute on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham late Sunday night.

Police said the woman had left the address in her vehicle by the time they arrived, but she came back when officers were still there.

Investigators believed the woman had been driving under the influence of alcohol, so she was arrested and taken back to police headquarters for breath tests. She was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

Police said during their investigation, they also learned that the man and woman had been involved in an altercation before officers arrived and that the man had allegedly assaulted the woman during that argument.

Officers found the man about four hours after they received the initial call. He was arrested and charged with assault.
