Third man arrested after break-in and assault

Chatham-Kent police have rounded up the third suspect who was wanted in connection with an assault that took place several weeks ago.

Police said they were called to the home on Prince Arthur Avenue late at night on December 27, 2022 and learned that a father and son had been assaulted by three men who had also forced their way into the home.

As of late last week, officers were able to arrest two of the suspects, a 19-year-old Chatham man and a 21-year-old Chatham man, but police were still looking for a third man.

Officers said the final suspect in the case turned himself in at police headquarters just before 9 a.m. Monday.

Both women were arrested and taken to police headquarters and the vehicle was towed.

Man arrested for breaching release conditions

A 30-year-old Walpole Island man is in more trouble with the law after he was allegedly caught inside an apartment building he had been banned from attending.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man inside the building on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg after they got a call about a disturbance there at 2:50 p.m. Monday.

Officers said they were told there was a man outside of an apartment who was demanding that someone let him in.

Police said their investigation showed that the man they found in the building had previously been released with conditions that banned him from coming within 100 metres of the apartment that he was trying to get into. He was also banned from communicating with the man who lived there.

As a result, a 30-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He was later taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
