Seven arrests after drug search and seizure in Chatham

Seven people are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police searched a property on Colborne Street in Chatham and found illegal drugs, digital scales, and a large amount of cash.

Police said members of the CK Police Intelligence Section and the Critical Incident Response Team made that discovery while they were executing a search warrant Tuesday evening.

Officers recovered about $9,000 worth of fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone, oxycodone, lorazepam, and clonazepam.

They also seized some digital scales, packaging material, and cell phones along with a large amount of Canadian currency.

A total of seven people were arrested and their charges are as follows:

- 57-year-old Windsor man charged with one count of drug possession (also arrested on an outstanding warrant)

- 54-year-old Chatham man charged with five counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking

- 42-year-old Chatham man charged with five counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking

- 39-year-old Highgate woman charged with seven counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking

- 38-year-old Chatham woman charged with five counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of failing to comply with an undertaking

- 30-year-old Dover Township woman charged with five counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking

- 30-year-old Chatham man charged with five counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking

All seven of the accused were taken to police headquarters, six of them were later released with conditions and a future court date.

The 54-year-old Chatham man who was arrested was set to be held in custody for a future court date.
