Drunk driver almost hits ambulance in CK

A 27-year-old Raleigh Township man is facing an impaired driving charge after a vehicle was seen swerving into oncoming traffic and almost hit an ambulance.

Chatham-Kent police said that was just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Queens Line in Raleigh Township.

An officer pulled the vehicle over after the near hit and believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken back to police headquarters for further breath tests.

A 27-year-old man was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham man accused of hitting his mom and grandmother

A 24-year-old Chatham man is facing a handful of charges after an intergenerational fight between himself, his mom, and his grandma.

Police said they arrested him after they were called to a disturbance on Park Avenue East in Chatham over the noon-hour on Tuesday and learned that the man had been arguing with his mother and his grandmother.

Officers said the argument escalated to the point where the man assaulted both women and damaged a lock and a window.

Police learned that the man was also allegedly breaching his release order at the time.

As a result, the man was arrested, charged with two counts each of mischief breach of recognizance, and taken back to police headquarters.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.
