UPDATE: Injured Tilbury worker recovering in hospital

A female worker is in a Windsor hospital in serious but stable condition following an industrial accident at a workplace in Tilbury.

The Ministry of Labour told CK News Today that an employee was hit by a piece of equipment on Friday at Mahle Filter Systems in Tilbury.

A hospital spokesperson said the patient is in the hospital in serious but stable condition with multiple injuries. Neither the company, the Ministry, nor the hospital would say what injuries the woman suffered.

The Ministry said an inspector attended the workplace and an investigation is underway. The Ministry noted it would be inappropriate to comment further because of the investigation.

The union, Unifor local 1941, wasn't comfortable commenting because it was still waiting for more information.

Mahle's Manager of Human Resources Patti Ann Iannetta told CK News Today investigations into the cause and sequence of events have begun.

"We are cooperating with the responsible authorities in this matter. At present, we are unable to provide any further details due to the ongoing investigations. We wish the colleague concerned a fast recovery," said Iannetta.
