Tipster leads police to wanted woman

Chatham-Kent police were able to cross another name off of their wanted list on Wednesday thanks to a tipster.

Police said they got a tip at around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday telling them where to find a 29-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

When police showed up at the address on Grand Avenue West, they found the woman and arrested her.

She was charged with failing to comply with a probation order and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman found breaching restraining order

A 42-year-old Chatham woman is in more trouble with the law after police say they found her on the front lawn of a property she had been banned from attending.

Police said they found the woman at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday while they were following up on a report of a domestic disturbance on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Officers said the woman they arrested was previously released with a condition that required her to stay a certain distance away from that property.

The woman was charged with failing to comply with her conditions and she was taken back to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested for stealing from Walmart

A 38-year-old Chatham woman is paying the price for trying to get a five-finger discount from Walmart in Wallaceburg.

Police said she was also wanted for failing to attend court.

Officers were called to the store just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a theft, but by the time they arrived, the suspect was already gone.

Police got a description of her, though, and managed to track her down a short distance away.

When police caught up with her, they learned she was also wanted on a warrant, so she was arrested and taken back to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a future court date.
