Local food banks get a holiday boost

Food banks across Southwestern Ontario are getting a helping hand this holiday season thanks to a local business.
Dowler-Karn, a Division of McDougall Energy Inc. has donated $30,000 to six different food banks to help with their Christmas pantry programs.
Helping Hand Food Bank in Tillsonburg, Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre in Centralia, the Inn of the Good Shepherd in Sarnia, Outreach for Hunger in Chatham, St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank/The Caring Cupboard in St. Thomas, and the UHC – Food Bank Association Hub of Opportunities in Windsor-Essex each received $5,000.
Dowler-Karn said the organizations provide clients with essential food, including fresh and healthy options, while helping to ease the burden of financial stress, especially during the Christmas season.
“McDougall Energy and Group of Companies is built on the support of communities we operate within, and we are committed to giving back to dedicated organizations that help make a difference every day,” said Darren McDougall, President of McDougall Energy Inc. “By supporting various food banks and Christmas Hamper programs in the regions we operate in, we hope to bring extra joy to children, families, and individuals who could use additional support this holiday season.”
