Drunk driving charge laid after vehicle hits hydro pole

A 28-year-old Leamington man is facing an impaired driving charge after he allegedly drove a vehicle into a hydro pole just south of Tilbury.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene on Wheatley Road in Tilbury East Township just before 10 p.m. Thursday, adding that the vehicle went off the road and hit a hydro pole on the east side of the road.

Police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken back to police headquarters.

The accused was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted man turns up in St. Thomas

Chatham-Kent police got an assist from their colleagues in St. Thomas to track down a 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted for failing to comply with a probation order.

CK police said they were contacted by St. Thomas police at 10:20 a.m. Friday to advise them that they had a man in custody who was wanted on a CKPS warrant.

The man was transported to CK police headquarters, charged, and set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Wanted woman arrested in Sarnia

A 31-year-old Sarnia woman who was wanted by Chatham-Kent police has been arrested thanks to police in Sarnia.

Chatham-Kent police said they received word from the Sarnia Police Service at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday that they had a woman in custody who was wanted by CKPS on a warrant.

The accused was taken to CKPS headquarters and charged with failing to attend court. She was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
