Chatham-Kent police are thanking everyone who pitched in to help find a young woman who was reported missing earlier this week.
Police said they "immediately began a missing person investigation" after receiving information just before 2:30 p.m. Monday about an 18-year-old woman who could not be located.
Officers used "various investigative resources and techniques" in the search, including cell phone pinging, a drone, a grid search, the K9 unit and following up on tips from the public.
The team of searchers included front-line officers, the Critical Incident Response Team, the Criminal Investigative Branch, community partner agencies, and the public.
After searching for the woman for more than 24 hours, she was found safe at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said she was treated for hypothermia but was otherwise in good health and they are thankful to the community for their support and their help to make sure there was a positive outcome.
