CK man accused of breaching release conditions

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was just released from police custody in mid-September is facing more charges after he allegedly showed up at a woman’s house he had been banned from attending.

Police said when the man was released from custody on September 13, 2022, he was ordered to stay away from a specific woman’s residence, place of work, and anywhere she was known to be.

Officers said despite that, the man allegedly showed up at the woman’s home at 5 a.m. on Monday and threatened to harm her.

He also allegedly went into the home without permission but took off after he realized she had contacted the police.

Officers said they were able to find him a short distance away from the home when they arrived and arrested him.

The man was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions, uttering threats, and unlawfully being in a dwelling.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
