Chatham man arrested for allegedly hitting man with baseball bat

A 30-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly hit another man with a baseball bat during a fight in Chatham Monday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene on Randolf Crescent in Chatham just before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The man they arrested was charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.

CK man accused of breaching release conditions

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was just released from police custody in mid-September is facing more charges after he allegedly showed up at a woman's house he had been banned from attending.

Police said when the man was released from custody on September 13, 2022, he was ordered to stay away from a specific woman's residence, place of work, and anywhere she was known to be.

Officers said despite that, the man allegedly showed up at the woman's home at 5 a.m. on Monday and threatened to harm her.

He also allegedly went into the home without permission but took off after he realized she had contacted the police.

Officers said they were able to find him a short distance away from the home when they arrived and arrested him.

The man was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions, uttering threats, and unlawfully being in a dwelling.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Wanted Sarnia man arrested

A 44-year-old Sarnia man who was wanted on "several outstanding warrants" for failing to attend court has been arrested in Chatham.

Police said they found him at 8:40 a.m. Monday on King Street East in Chatham.

Once police confirmed that he was wanted, they arrested him and took him back to police headquarters.

He was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
