Wanted man allegedly ditches car

A call about a car that was ditched in a waterfilled creek led Chatham-Kent police to a wanted man Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they were called to the scene of the collision on Arnold Road in Chatham Township just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, adding that the report they received said the vehicle went off the road and into the creek.

Two men were seen walking away from the scene and police said one of them was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court.

A 24-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Bothwell woman arrested for fraud, theft

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 32-year-old Bothwell woman who was wanted in connection with a theft and fraud investigation at a Chatham business.

Police said they were able to identify a suspect in the case on November 16, 2022 but they couldn't find the woman at the time, so they issued a warrant for her arrest.

Officers caught up with her just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and arrested her.

She was charged with theft and fraud and was released with a future court date.

Unwanted person call leads to arrest

A 21-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges after she was allegedly caught breaching her house arrest conditions Wednesday night.

Police said they found the woman while they were responding to a report of an unwanted person on Richmond Street in Chatham just after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers said they learned that the woman had been released from the court with a condition that she was supposed to reside at a specific address and stay there with limited exemptions.

Police said the address on Richmond Street where they found her was not the address listed in her release conditions, so she was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order.

She was taken back to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Man accused of pushing woman

A 40-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with assault after he allegedly pushed a woman during an argument on Wednesday.

Police said they were called to the domestic disturbance just on Discovery Court in Chatham before midnight Wednesday and learned that the argument had turned physical.

The accused was arrested, charged, and released with a future court date.
