Wanted man arrested for threatening neighbour over barking dog
A 45-year-old Wallaceburg man who was already wanted for failing to attend court is facing more charges now after his neighbour's barking dog apparently triggered a violent outburst.
Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man after responding to a report of a neighbour dispute at two apartments on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said their investigation showed the man got upset with his neighbour's dog barking while on the balcony, so he allegedly used a large wooden stick to "beat on the balcony door" and yelled derogatory comments while also threatening to harm the neighbour.
Officers said pieces of the stick broke off and hit the dog, but there was no word on whether the dog was injured as a result.
The man accused of threatening his neighbour then allegedly went into the apartment hallway and started kicking his neighbour's door while yelling at them, too. The kicking also reportedly damaged the door.
Police arrested the man after arriving at the scene and also learned that he was wanted for failing to attend court.
The accused was arrested and charged with uttering threats and mischief and was taken back to police headquarters. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man arrested for unlawful visit
A 25-year-old Chatham Township man spent some time in police custody on Tuesday after officers allegedly caught him visiting a woman he was supposed to stay away from.
Police said police in LaSalle had released the man on May 15, 2022 with several conditions, including one that required him to stay away from a specific Chatham woman's residence.
Chatham-Kent police received some information that the man was at that woman's house on Tuesday, though, so they went to investigate and allegedly found him on her front porch.
He was arrested, charged with failing to comply with his release conditions, and later released with a future court date.
