Tilbury man arrested for drug, weapons offences after disturbance

A 20-year-old Tilbury man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly threatened a man while holding a large knife.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man after they responded to a disturbance call on Queen Street North in Tilbury at around 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Officers said their investigation showed that two men had been drinking together earlier in the day when one of the men threatened the other while holding a knife.

The knife was taken from him and he left the scene before police arrived.

Officers also learned that the man who had issued the threat had previously been released from the court with a condition that banned him from being outside of his residence with alcohol inside his body.

Police found him a few minutes after they arrived at the scene and arrested him.

They also allegedly found some suspected cocaine in the man's pocket when they were searching him.

A 20-year-old Tilbury man was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, uttering threats, possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
