Woman accused of threatening neighbour, throwing drink at police

A 36-year-old Chatham woman is facing a pair of charges after she allegedly threw a drink at an officer who was arresting her.

Chatham-Kent police said the officer was arresting the woman after responding to a neighbour dispute on Wedgewood Avenue in Chatham at around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators said the woman had allegedly threatened to harm her neighbour during the dispute.

Police said after the woman threw the drink at the officer, she tried to flee.

She was arrested, though, and taken back to police headquarters.

The accused was charged with uttering threats and assaulting a police officer and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for breaching bail conditions by contacting, threatening woman

A 29-year-old Raleigh Township man is right back in police custody -- just a few months after he was released.

Police said the man was released from the court on May 20 with conditions not to communicate or be within 100 metres of a specific woman.

Officers learned that he had allegedly breached those conditions twice this week after they were called to a disturbance on Prince Street South in Chatham just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the man had also allegedly threatened to harm the woman he had been ordered to stay away from.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and one count of uttering threats.

The accused was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for bail violations

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing more charges after police allegedly found him at a residence he had been banned from attending.

Police said they found him at the home on Joseph Street in Chatham while they were responding to a disturbance call just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The man was arrested after officers learned the man had been bound by two release orders and probation order to stay away from the place.

The accused was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count of failing to comply with a probation order.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
