Driver, passenger both turn out to be wanted by police

A 26-year-old man from West Lorne and a 19-year-old Blenheim woman who were both wanted for various offences were caught during a traffic stop, according to CK police.

Police said they found the pair after pulling over a vehicle just after 12 a.m. Wednesday on Harwich Road between Welch Line and Knights Line in Harwich Township.

Officers said their investigation showed that the 26-year-old West Lorne man who was driving was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Middlesex OPP, so he was handed over to provincial police in Chatham.

His passenger, a 19-year-old Blenheim woman, was wanted by Chatham-Kent police for failing to attend court, assault, obstructing a peace officer, failing to comply with a release order, and possession of a controlled substance.

As a result, she was taken back to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Woman banned from Chatham-Kent arrested during traffic stop

A 27-year-old woman who was already wanted by Chatham-Kent police is facing a handful of additional charges after she allegedly lied to police about who she was while also carrying around some methamphetamine.

Police said they found the woman while they were conducting a traffic stop on Victoria Street in Wallaceburg at around 3:05 a.m. Wednesday.

At that time, the woman allegedly lied to police about her identity.

Once officers found out who she really was, they learned she was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was also on conditions that required her to stay away from Chatham-Kent.

Police said they also found some suspected methamphetamine in her possession when they searched her.

The accused was charged accordingly and taken back to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
