Rossini's Restaurant owners retire, new owners take over

After a long and successful run at Rossini's Restaurant in Chatham, the owners are retiring and new owners will be taking over the eatery next week.

Co-owner Berta Prelaz told CK News Today Friday was the last day for her and Ed Prelaz and the new owners will take over the restaurant on Thursday.

Prelaz said they look forward to travelling, playing lots of golf, spending more time with family and friends, and not working 50 out of 52 Saturdays a year.

"Nineteen plus years and it's time for us to start a new chapter. This new chapter is going to bring lots of golf, lots of visiting with friends and family, and taking off for the winter," said Berta.

Prelaz said they'll always cherish the wonderful memories and relationships with customers and staff over the years.

"All of the celebrations that we were fortunate enough to spend with so many wonderful customers. I celebrated my first retirement here. I'm a retired teacher, that was quite exciting. Working with all the staff that have been here since we bought the business, and new friends that we met here that we now travel with," she said.

The Prelaz family owned the restaurant for 19 years. The Prelazs said they want to thank their dedicated staff, family, friends and customers for supporting them over the last 19 years.

"We are honoured to have been a part of your dining, celebrations, fundraisers and events," read a Facebook post. "The time has come to hang up the chef coat and put down the serving tray."
