Radiothon raises over $100,000 for local healthcare

The totals are in for the first ever Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) Frontline Faces Radiothon.

$102,595.60 was raised in six hours on Country 92.9 FM or 630 AM CFCO during Saturday's event, which was presented by Precise Parklink in partnership with Blackburn Media.

Donations came in on the TekSavvy Radiothon Phone Line, online, and in-person at the CIBC Radiothon Headquarters, located in the Frank and Mary Uniac Auditorium at CKHA’s Chatham site.

"We are simply blown away by our community’s response to Chatham-Kent’s first ever Radiothon,” said CKHAF President and CEO Mary Lou Crowley. “The support that we witnessed for CKHA’s frontline physicians, staff, and volunteers was overwhelming...Together, we showed our local frontline healthcare workers how appreciated they are.”

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation originally set a goal of $80,000 for the event.

All of the money raised will go to support the highest priority needs at the CKHA, including equipment renewal, program innovation, and modern facilities at both sites in Chatham and Wallaceburg.

"The outpouring of support that we received throughout Saturday’s Radiothon really is a testament to our community’s generosity,” said CKHAF Board Chair Bob Hockney. “Time and time again, we have seen the people of Chatham-Kent step up in support of local healthcare, and this was no exception. The grand total of $102,595 raised is so important because it is more than an investment in innovation, equipment, and modern facilities at CKHA. It is also an investment in the physicians, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, porters, and other frontline staff who deliver such exceptional care.”
