Chatham's Matt "The Pitbull" Dawson gets unleashed in London next month

A professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter from Chatham nicknamed "The Pitbull" is getting ready for his next fight in London, Ontario next month.

Matt "The Pitbull" Dawson will face Gino Ghalehpardaz from London on October 22 at Budwiser Garden in a flyweight showdown.

Dawson said he's very familiar with his opponent and is confident he'll put on a good show for the fans and come out of the contest with a win.

"I don't know he'll put up too much of a challenge. He's well-rounded, has good Jiu-Jitsu, good wrestling, his stand-up is okay," said Dawson. "I've already fought a couple of guys from his gym and it turned out better for me. I know what they bring to the table and what kind of game plan they're going to bring and I'm prepared for that."

Dawson said this fight was inevitable.

"I fought his last opponent and there's also a couple of other fighters he's fought that I fought as well. We just haven't locked horns yet -- me and him," Dawson said, adding he's fit and ready to go.

Dawson trains out of CK Combat gym in Chatham and thanks Chatham-Kent for all of the support he has received over the years.

Ghalehpardaz made his professional MMA debut inside the Prospect Fighting Championships (PFC) cage and has gone on to win his two last fights while Dawson looks to remain undefeated in the PFC cage. Both also had extensive amateur careers together under the PFC banner.

The event is a fundraiser to help "Knockout Kidney Disease" and tickets for the "Showdown in the Downtown" can be bought by clicking here or through Dawson.
