Man who was wanted in Waterloo turns up in Chatham-Kent

The law has come calling for a 76-year-old Chatham man who was wanted by police in the Waterloo region.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man when they were responding to a complaint about an unwanted person at a residence on Grand Avenue East in Chatham just after 1 p.m. Thursday.

Officers said their investigation showed the man was wanted by the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), so he was arrested and held in custody until WRPS officers arrived and took him back to Waterloo.

Man arrested for public intoxication

A 19-year-old Chatham man spent some time sobering up in Chatham-Kent police custody Thursday night after he was reportedly causing a disturbance on Oxley Drive in Chatham.

Police said they got the call just after 7 p.m. Thursday for a report that a man was walking west on Oxley Dr. yelling and being confrontational with people.

When officers arrived in the area, they found the man and determined he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

He was arrested for public intoxication and was taken into custody until he sobered up.
