Theft investigation leads to charges 

A Chatham man has a future court date after police were called about a theft Thursday night.

Around 7:09 p.m., officers responded to a theft from a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham. Police were about to identify a suspect through surveillance videos.

A 51-year-old man was located and arrested.  He was charged with theft and released with a future court date.

Man arrested for bail violations

On July 13, a Wallaceburg man was released from court with a condition to remain in his residence 24 hours a day, with a specific exception.

On Wednesday, police started an investigation into a complaint that the man was not complying with his release conditions.

The 27-year-old was located and arrested. He was charged with failing to comply with a release order and was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.

Traffic blitz in CK

Over a dozen drivers will have traffic tickets to pay following an enforcement blitz by Chatham-Kent police across the municipality.

On Thursday, Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit members conducted traffic enforcement throughout the Municipality, including on Charring Cross Road in Harwich Township, McCreary Line, Communication Road and Longwoods Road in Chatham Township and St. Clair Street and McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham.

According to officers, a total of 17 tickets were issued for various offences relating to speeding.
