UPDATE: Boil water advisory in Dresden rescinded

A select number of addresses in Dresden are currently under a boil water advisory.

Late Wednesday, Chatham-Kent Public Health issued a boil water advisory to affected users of the Chatham-Kent municipal drinking water system in a portion of Dresden, following notification by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) of an adverse water sample result.

According to  Community Outreach and Public Relations Officer Caress Lee Carpenter, the advisory does not impact the entire community of Dresden.

"Chahta-Kent Public Health Inspectors consulted with PUC officials to determine the addresses of the affected users and those users were hand delivered notifications by PUC staff," Carpenter said through an email to CK News Today.

Residents who did not receive a notice are not affected. According to Carpenter, the advisory will remain in place until CK Public Health receives confirmation of satisfactory results from two sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart.

During a boil water advisory, residents are instructed to find a different water source, such as bottled water, or boil water for at least one minute before using it for things such as drinking, making infant formula, making ice or juice, cooking, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making coffee.

All affected users can monitor the status of the situation by calling the Water Advisory Update Line at 519-436-3250 for recorded updates.
