Man charged with impaired driving following three-vehicle collision

A male driver has been charged with impaired driving after a three-vehicle collision on Friday.

Emergency crews were called to the crash on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg where the accused, determined to be the at-fault driver, was found to have a suspended driver’s licence.

According to police, the accused was also suspected of being impaired, which resulted in a standard field sobriety test being performed.

Police said the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug.

He was taken to police headquarter where a drug recognition expert also determined the accused was impaired by drug.

The accused was charged for driving offences, had his licence suspended for 90 days, his vehicle impounded for seven days and he received a court date for his criminal charges.

Other drivers reported minor injuries in the crash.

Blenheim man facing charges after found with rifle while passenger in vehicle 

A 22-year-old Blenheim man is facing several charges after Chatham-Kent police found him with a .22 caliber rifle during a traffic stop on Friday.

Police said officers were conducting an investigation in Blenheim when the accused, who was the subject of the investigation, was seen in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

Officers said he was found with a rifle he did not have a licence for after the vehicle was stopped.

This resulted in the man being arrested on charges related to illegally possessing a weapon along with theft of a credit card, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, and failing to comply with probation.

He was held for a bail hearing.
