Latest Cascades Casino revenue brings in over $423K for CK

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is receiving over $423,000 for hosting the Cascades Casino in Chatham.

For the first quarter, from April 1, 2022 to June 30, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) issued a non-tax gaming revenue payment of $423,773 to Chatham-Kent.

The latest payment is up drastically compared to the previous quarter when Chatham-Kent received a $255,748 revenue payment. However, casinos across the province were still dealing with rigorous public health restrictions during the first three months of 2022.

"OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation," OLG officials said through a media release. "Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario. 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested in the province."

The payments made to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site. Since 2001, Chatham-Kent has received a total of $14.8 million.
